Farmer's market update

I guess i've been a little bit lazy on updating this blog :P I mean to do it during the weekends but.......... ok couldn't come up with a good excuse !! The vegetable patch is growing nicely. No veg coming out of them yet, but they got so big we had to transfer them into bigger pots courtesy of Mr. C's daddy! They are outside in the front now, has been raining heavily today, hope they will be ok :) Very soon we will have some yummy home grown veg !! Now just have to think of what dishes I can create with them!!

First picture is the chilies
Second, courgettes
Third, tomatoes

Bo sneaking out of the house-  bold for barking at some other dog so we grounded her for 5 minutes but she managed to sneak out!!

She'd eat them if she could, wouldn't put it past her.

Saturday outing in Bray

Today was a lovely sunny day, a bit chilly, actually pretty chilly but at least the sun was shining!! We went on a lonnnnnnnnnnnng drive today!! First stop Bray.. then Greystones... then Bray again (for chipper!)..... then Dalkey.. Somebody had a chipper craving, batter sausage and chips and cheese burger no onions and chips for lunch! Suki enjoyed some of the cheese burger where Bo enjoyed the cheese burger, batter sausage and chips! We went to this place beside the amusement centre, something begining with C, can't remember the name. Probably give it a 6/7 out of 10. Chip portions were pretty scabby, they'll have to start growing their own potatoes in their back garden, and they lacked a good bit of salt and vinegar. Cheese burger wasn't bad, doesn't compare to Silvios cheese burgers!

Bo: 'A bit of privacy please'

Stones were hurting poor Suki's feet, you should have seen her tip toe along

Suki carrying out her business

Tonight's dinner menu: Rib eye steaks from Aldi, 9.99 for two, not bad value at all, mash and veg with a red wine sauce (cheat: knorr packet)

Verdict: Those steaks are a definte winner! Definitely be getting them again, think they might even be better than the Superquinn ones, either that or I'm getting better at cooking steaks :P Poor Mr. C has to scrub the steak griddle pan thing :P It's a nightmare to clean, should of got a non stick one. Oh and the Knorr red wine sauce, gorg! It could be the new peppercorn sauce on the side :) (Phone quality photo, poor camera was tired and ran out of battery)

Dessert: Strawberry cheesecake. Tested out a new recipe today so will be interesting to see how that turns out........................ It turned out nice! But as you can see the biscuit base is a tad bit loose and crumbly! That always happens when I make cheesecake :( What's the secret!!??!!

Mr. C gave Bo a bit of his big slice, but trust Bo to make a mess of the place!

Our little garden

Due to the recession we have decided to grow our own little vegetable patch and sell the outcome at the farmers markets! We went to B&Q and finally got some little pots of germinated tomatoes, chillies, courgettes and more tomatoes and chillies- 2 varities of tomatoes and chillies- Mr. C likes his food hot and spicy so we got the mexican hot chillies and the ordinary ones, pity they didn't have the birds eye ones, the ones that make your eyes water the minute they hit the pan and makes everyone else in the room cough their poor lungs out! Not bad value now- pick 10 little pots and only pay 8euro for the lot. Pity about the self service pay thing there- don't see how it's self service when there's a lady there holding the scanner thing and scanning your things for you??

So Mr. C got his hands dirty! Didn't even complain about the dirty black soil sticking to the insides of his nails :P

Tat little pink polka dot pot in the picture above is acutally, either mint, basil or oregano! Got them in Next last year and only planting them now! Hopefully they will grow nice n tall :)

Bo wasn't allowed out because she was being bold (wat's new??!!??)

One of the finished trays- we made two of these..

So while the gardener was busy gardening, the chef was busy doing her preps, it's all about the preparation. On the way home we stopped by some wholesale butcher, looked pretty much like an ordinary butcher's though, it did however sell some fresh fish and had some scallops, or as Mr. C would say, 'are they shallots' :D Poor guy keeps getting things mixed up :P We saw some pretty yummy smoked ribs- well seemed lik a good option at the time. Later were we to find it maybe that 3euro could of been spent elsewhere, like another doggie stick treat for the babies.

A bit fatty to say the least with only a tiny bit of meat on them- Bo didn't seem to mind though, Sukes wasn't interested at all.

Chicken wings and stir fried veg were on the menu tonight.

The wings weren't bad and Mr. C liked them- or so he says! I call them sticky soya chicken wing. Yum Yum Yum.

What you looking at!
